Straightforward treatment based upon proven clinical care and twelve-step recovery programs.
Our entire staff is in recovery; we fully understand the disease because we practice the solution ourselves, every day. Every member of the Montana Lodge’s dedicated staff is living proof that long-term sobriety is possible when one is willing to participate in a long-term treatment plan based upon the time-tested Twelve-Step principles Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous and proven clinical methods of treatment.
The Montana Lodge utilizes a Holistic Approach to Recovery.
We offer multiple levels of care for those entering treatment for the first time, or following a relapse. Assuming your loved one is medically stable, the first step is a complete bio/psycho/social assessment by our clinical psychologist and primary therapist wherein a treatment plan is tailored to his individual needs. A treatment plan typically includes the services required to treat the physiological, psychological and social and spiritual needs of the individual.
We employ multiple therapeutic techniques that address both addiction and co-occurring disorders. In addition to group and individual therapy, we offer substance abuse classes and workshops based upon the Twelve Step recovery philosophy.
There are many reasons people in recovery relapse. One is the simple truth that they are not completely ready to do the work required for recovery. While twelve-step programs are simple, they require honesty, surrender, humility, perseverance and a willingness to go to any length to get clean and sober.
Another reason is that the alcoholic/addict does not fully comprehend the powerlessness of the disease. As a result, they fail to have a positive and vital spiritual experience with a “Power greater than themselves” that proves the principles of sobriety can work in all areas of one’s life. It is imperative that one has such an experience in early recovery, however small he believes it to be. This is a key focus at The Montana Lodge.
A third reason is that some men require more than a twelve-step program due to what we call “co-occurring disorders.” These include: clinical depression, dysthymia, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder and others. If these are not diagnosed and treated, the probability of long-term sobriety is low. Often these co-occurring disorders are part of the reason he drinks and/or uses drugs. With others, the reason they have the disorder is due to the addiction. We understand this well and can accurately diagnose which it is during treatment.
We incorporate other appropriate modalities to help our clients to recovery, including a weekly spirituality class, physical fitness facilities, a weekly nature outing and more – all at no additional cost.
In addition to our staff, The Montana Lodge clients have access to a medical doctor, a naturopathic medical doctor, a licensed acupuncturist and more. (Additional fees apply for these professional services).
Family – A key element in one’s recovery
We know addiction is a disease that impacts the entire family in devastating ways.
The damaging effects of alcoholism and drug abuse on the family unit cannot be understated. While the addict is in treatment, the family needs to be treated also because everyone has suffered the effects of the addiction.
At The Montana Lodge, we actively engage the family in the recovery process. Our family counselor works with you from admissions to discharge with weekly remote therapy sessions and a weekend family workshop. The family must agree to this process as well as attend regular Al-Anon or Families Anonymous meetings. This service is included in the monthly fees of the Residential, Partial Hospitalization, Extended Care and Transitional Living programs. It is available for the Sober Living program for a nominal fee.
Healthy recreation that supports recovery
An important part of recovery is learning how to have fun while remaining clean and sober. Outdoor activities, recreation and fitness are important elements of our program. The Prescott National Forest is only five minutes away. Thumb Butte is a convenient day hike, as is Granite Mountain and Lynx Lake. Camping on Mingus Mountain, Granite Mountain and in the Prescott National Forest is something our clients really enjoy. In winter, there is snowboarding and skiing in Flagstaff; in summer, trips to various lakes and water spots are favorites.
Prescott has a strong recovery community with over 150 Twelve Step meetings a week. Sober dances, which help our clients learn how to socialize in sobriety, are offered on a regular basis. We participate in local AA/NA events and regional AA/NA round ups.
