For the Family

An Important Message to Family Members.

Living with an alcoholic or drug addict can be a nightmare. Don’t let your choice of recovery programs become one. There is a bewildering array of recovery programs from which to choose, and making the right choice can be difficult.

Many parents tell us that The Montana Lodge has done more for their son that any other treatment program in the past. This is due to our straightforward approach and passion for recovery. Since we are all in recovery, we are able to relate to our clients from personal experience as well as training.

This is an important, life saving decision for you. To help you in making your choice of the right recovery program for you or your loved one, we suggest that you not only call us, but that you also:

  • Visit our facilities if possible.
  • Speak to families of clients.
  • Speak to our staff. Any one of us is willing to spend time with you.
  • Have your referring counselor speak to one or more of our staff.

We want you to feel good about having your loved one participate in our program.

Every member of The Montana Lodge staff is willing to take the necessary time to answer ALL of your questions.

Here are a few guidelines for admission for you to consider:

  1. When your loved one arrives at The Montana Lodge, he will call you from our phone to let you know that he is here.
  2. There will be a three-week boundary around family telephone calls and visits to help him acclimate to our program.
  3. Send enough clothing for ten days. He does not need more than one suitcase of clothes. Be aware of our seasons in Prescott. Although we are in Arizona, we are in the high chaparral at 5,300 ft. We have four distinct seasons. It’s cold in the winter, hot in the summer, and enjoyable in the spring and fall. Prescott’s temperatures are normally 15° cooler than Phoenix. We will send you a New Arrival’s Checklist.
  4. Do not send clothing suggestive of alcohol, drugs, hip-hop artists or inappropriate images of women.
  5. Do not send a cell phone.
  6. Do not send a laptop computer.
  7. Do send an iPod, but know that we will remove all rap music from it upon arrival.
  8. Do send a sleeping bag for camping.
  9. Do send pictures of the family.
  10. Do send a pillow if he has one he’s attached to; otherwise, he can use ours.
